A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event that marks the beginning of a couple’s journey together. It is often a day filled with love, happiness, and excitement. However, for one bride-to-be, tying the knot has become a contention.

What’s the Problem?

The bride, whom we’ll call Julia, faces a dilemma regarding her wedding. She and her fiancĂ© have been planning their special day for some time now, but there’s one problem – her fiancĂ© has recently gotten braces.

Why She Is Concerned

Although it may not appear significant, Julia worries about how the braces will look in their wedding photos. She’s expressed her concerns to her fiancĂ©, who has accused her of being ashamed of him because of his braces.

She says this couldn’t be further from the truth. Julia supports her fiancĂ©’s decision to get the braces, ultimately improving his oral health. However, she wants their wedding photos to look as aesthetically pleasing as possible and doesn’t think it’s unrealistic to expect this for such an important event.

Her Proposal

Julia suggested postponing the wedding until the braces come off, but her fiancé is angry and has threatened to cancel the wedding altogether.
It has left her feeling torn and unsure of what to do.

On the one hand, she wants to stand her ground and make sure her wedding photos look how she wants them to. But on the other hand, she doesn’t want to hurt her fiancĂ©’s feelings and be seen as shallow or unsupportive.

Julia is now left wondering if she’s in the wrong for wanting to postpone the wedding until her fiancĂ©’s braces come off. Here is how the internet responded.

Someone Shared

“It always amuses me when people are like, “My wedding pictures MUST be PERFECT,” because though you get 1,000 pictures of that day, most people only end up displaying a handful, and the rest are in an album that you pull out every so often.

For example, I got married 15 years ago and have only one of our wedding pictures displayed – the group photo with my and my husband’s family. I liked the vibes of our engagement photos better than my wedding photos – I’ve got two pictures from our engagement session displayed.

Plus, there’s Photoshop, where a skilled photographer can erase the braces off your fiance’s teeth if it’s that important to you. You’re the bad guy.”

Another Agreed

“You’re the bad guy because you prioritize your wedding photos over everything else. Over your fiancee’s feelings, your marriage, and the wedding itself. If the photos are the most important thing to you, I hope your fiancee reconsiders what he’s getting into.”

“It would also be great to have photos like that if their kid ever needs them. Then, they could tell them the story about how dad was scared, but that mom convinced him to get them and how no one cared that he had them and everyone enjoyed the wedding.

Pragmatism should be taught in schools. But, heck, that’s an entire children’s storybook about braces.”

“So he didn’t get braces when younger because he was afraid of what people would say. And now you, his fiancĂ©e, are confirming his fears. Wow. You are the bad guy.” Another added, “Exactly. He didn’t get braces for fear of bullying, and now she’s his bully.”
